Igor has been awarded the highly competitive Juan de la Cierva fellowship to continue his research within our group! Congratulations, Igor!

Yesterday, we had our annual group excursion. This year, we headed into the woods for a scenic nature hike along a trail planned by our postdoc, Sofia. The hike ended at a BBQ spot, where we enjoyed good food and plenty of oxidation and Maillard reactions. Thanks for the organization, Sofia and Igor!

Welcome to our new PhD student Öykü! Looking forward to your porphyin-liposome nanostructures!

Welcome to the new group-members: Carla and Leah, and welcome back to Nagore.

Many congratulations to Sofia whose MSCA proposal RedLips was funded! In collaboration with the CNR Institute for Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity in Italy, we will develop liposomes producing radicals!

Last night we had our christmas party together with the groups of Companyó and Kumar. And with that, we bring another year of science to a close. Looking forward to seeing what amazing things we can find out next year!

The last three days Bart, Igor and Antoni were at the Spanish Netherlands Organic Chemistry Symposium. We contributed with a talk and two posters. It was great to see new and old friends, and learn a lot about current new directions of chemical research in our two countries!

We welcome three new members to our group! Postdocs Sofia and Ginevra working on SYNAPS, and Erasmus+ student Jan working on PHOTOGENIC.

Last thursday, the 16th of October, Bart was part of the first Spanish Junior Leaders in Synthesis and Catalysis symposium in the beautiful Murcia, presenting about how mechanistic elucidation is highly important, especially for photoredox catalysis.

Yesterday, our group had the chance to share our research with both the (very) young and the young-at-heart at CosmoCaixa. The audience showed great curiosity as we explained how light interacts with molecules, what liposomes are, and how they can be applied across diverse fields with a significant impact on society. It was a truly rewarding experience to showcase how our publicly funded research helps advance knowledge in chemistry! Some of the kids showed such great curiosity – and even understanding – that it left us really hopeful and optimistic about the future of Catalan science!
